Anusham and Mahaperiyava

Anusham—the star under which Sri Mahaperiyava was born—is a day of immense spiritual energy and devotion at Sri Mahaperiyava Sharanalayam. From the early hours, the temple comes alive with hundreds of devotees gathering to seek his blessings. The air is filled with divine vibrations, making it a truly jubilant and sacred occasion.

Ganapati & Avahanti Homam

The Ganapati homam and Avahanti homam, both performed on this auspicious day, is a powerful Vedic ritual that invokes divine grace for removing obstacles, spiritual upliftment, prosperity, and wisdom. Devotees can join the homam at about 8 am during the maha sankalpam.

The special abhishekam, Visesha Puja, and stunning alankarams of Mahaperiyava and Devi Kamakshi create a breathtaking divine spectacle. Sharnalayam resonates with Vedic chants, bhajans and the fragrance of flowers, incense, and sacred homas, making one feel as if they could sit there forever, immersed in bliss.

It is a blessed sight to behold the darshan of both Mahaperiyava and Kamakshi Ambal, radiating divine grace.

On every Anusham, Utharavu Periyava visits Sharanalayam, accepting all abhishekams and pujas, staying at Sharanalayam for a full day before returning to GR Mama’s personal shrine the next morning.

The evening is a spiritual feast, beginning with the chanting of Vishnu Sahasranamam and Lalitha Sahasranamam at 5 PM. As the hall overflows with devotees, the divine vibrations of the chants fill the space, culminating in the grand evening Aarthi to Mahaperiyava and Kamakshi Ambal.

A major highlight of Anusham the 90-minute spiritual program at 6:30 PM—a pravachanam, devotional concert, or Namasankeerthan—that fills the hearts of devotees with devotion and bliss.

Mahaperiyava and Annadhanam

Mahaperiyava always emphasized Annadhanam as the highest form of service, believing that feeding the hungry is equal to worshipping God. He ensured that no one left his presence hungry, embodying true karuna.

At Sharanalayam, Annadhanam is served to devotees in the afternoon, and a special Mahaprasad is offered in the evening. The Anusham laddoo, a special prasad, is much loved by devotees. Join us to experience the divine joy of Anusham, where every moment is a celebration of love, devotion, and grace!
