Guru Pooja

In our spiritual journey, the Guru is the guiding light who dispels ignorance and leads us towards truth and liberation. Scriptures proclaim, “Guru is Brahma, Guru is Vishnu, Guru is Maheshwara.” Worship of the Guru is considered the highest form of devotion, for the Guru is the bridge between the seeker and the Divine. Sincere prayers offered at the feet of the Guru have the power to transform lives, remove obstacles, and awaken inner peace and clarity.

Sri Sri Sri Mahaperiyava blessed Sri GR Mama on 25th October 2014 with a divine instruction around 10:30 PM and guided him to initiate a 9-week Guru Pooja for devotees who approach with specific prayers.

Mahaperiyava mentioned that this puja would begin like a small spark but eventually spread like a forest fire, with many devotees performing it with deep faith and devotion.

This is a simple 9-week puja that anyone can perform at home. It is performed during the early hours of Brahma Muhurtam or in the evening during Pradosha Kaalam (4:30 – 6:00 PM).

The benefits of this puja are immense. What may start as a prayer for a specific purpose often blossoms into deeper bhakti and unwavering devotion to Periyava. Many devotees continue the puja well beyond the initial 9 weeks.

As GR Mama beautifully says, “Prayer is not a convenience, but a conviction.” Today, thousands of devotees across the world perform this Guru Pooja every Thursday. Sharanalayam resonates with devotion every week, as devotees gather, circumambulate Lagu Periyava, and offer their heartfelt prayers.

There are hundreds of devou who have shared their Gur Puja experience and you can view them on our YouTube channel.

If you wish to perform this puja, you may submit an online request. Sri GR Mama personally reads every request, submits the prayers to Periyava, and blesses the commencement of the Guru Pooja.
